How did I end up so lucky? I document the greatest joys in life, in a career that is more fun than work.

My photography style reflects my personality: joyful, energetic, and honest. I specialize in a documentary approach, and I've won international awards for my wedding photojournalism. My family portraiture uses a relaxed style that showcases character and lifestyle. I strive for energy and emotion in my photographs.

My work has been featured in several publications, including Newsweek, Popular Photography, Photo District News, Brides, and The Knot, as well as a variety of popular wedding websites.

I live in Reston, Virginia, just outside Washington DC. After six years in Colorado, we recently moved back to Northern Virginia, where I grew up and feel most at home. I'm married to a hilarious and wonderful Englishman named Mike. In 2011 our son Daniel joined the family. The three of us love to spend our time traveling, boating, or hiking with our dog, Ally. What a great life.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How would you describe your style of photography?
I use a photojournalistic approach to tell the stories of weddings, relationships, and events. At weddings, I schedule some time for posed portraits, but I spend most of the day documenting as unobtrusively as I can. My portraiture style emphasizes expressions, actions, and candid moments. My photos have vivid colors or crisp black and whites, with a realistic and timeless style of post-production.

What kind of equipment do you use?
I use high-end Canon digital cameras. I bring multiple camera bodies to each photo shoot, along with a large variety of lenses, lighting, and back-up equipment.

Do you provide the digital files?
My basic wedding package includes the digital files for all the final photos. My basic portrait package includes one digital file of your choice, and additional files are available for purchase a la carte. The files are high-resolution and include basic color correction, and you are welcome to print and share the photos for personal usage.

Are you willing to travel?
I love to travel, and I do it often! There is no charge for transportation to weddings within the DC metro area. Accommodations may be required for some events. Travel expenses may apply to portrait sessions outside the DC/Northern Virginia area. I am happy to travel anywhere within the United States or abroad, and travel expenses will vary depending on location. My passport is always current.
